POWERGRID, a ‘Maharatna’ Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Power, Govt. of India is engaged in power transmission business with the mandate for planning, co-ordination, supervision and control over complete Inter-State Transmission System and operation of national & regional power grids.
POWERGRID operates around 1,78,195 ckm Transmission Lines along with 278 Sub-Stations and wheels about 50% of total power generated in the country through its transmission networks. POWERGRID also owns & operates around approximately 1,00,000 kms of telecom network, with points of presence in approx. 3000 and intra-city network in 500 cities across India.
POWERGRID with its strong in-house expertise in various facets of the Transmission, SubTransmission, Distribution and Telecom sectors also offers consultancy services at National and International levels. POWERGRID has been making profit since inception, having Gross turnover of Rs. 45,815.37 Crores and Profit After Tax of Rs. 15,474.61 Crores (FY: 2023-24).
To take the growth curve to further heights, POWERGRID is looking for Bright, Committed and Energetic Engineering Graduates to join its fold as ENGINEER TRAINEEs tentatively in the disciplines of Electrical / Electronics / Civil / Computer Science through GATE 2025.
Such graduates who are desirous of pursuing further studies on the basis of GATE 2025
or need extension of joining time in case of selection need not apply.
VACANCIES & RESERVATION
Details of number of vacancies and reservation shall be indicated in the notification to be
published on our website before commencement of Online Registration. However, reservation shall be provided to OBC(NCL)/EWS/SC/ST/PwBD candidates depending on the number of vacancies and as per Govt. of India Directives.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Candidate should have appeared in the corresponding paper of GATE 2025 as shown in the following table and Qualified in the same. The qualifying marks shall be as declared by GATE 2025 Organizing Body.

Each candidate must hold at least a 60% aggregate or an equivalent CGPA in the specified discipline from a recognized university or institute.
Final Year / Semester students who expect their final results by 14.08.2025 are also eligible to apply, provided they have obtained minimum 60% marks or equivalent CGPA in aggregate of all semesters/years up to pre-final examination. In case of selection, their candidature shall be subject to their securing minimum 60% marks in essential qualification. Such candidates need to mention their marks up to pre-final examination while filling up the online application form for POWERGRID.

- Reservation/ Relaxation / Concession for SC / ST will be subject to submission of
relevant Caste Certificate in the prescribed format issued by a competent authority.
2. Relaxation / Concession for Victims of riots/Ex-SM will be as per Govt. of India
Guidelines in this regard.
3. Reservation and Relaxation for OBC (NCL) will be subject to submission of a copy of the latest OBC (NCL) certificate in the format prescribed by the Govt. of India for “Appointment to posts under Govt. of India” from a competent authority at the time of application and interview, if called for. The OBC candidates applying for the post must produce OBC (Non Creamy Layer) certificate based on the income for the Financial Year (FY) 2021-2022, 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 and issued on/after 01.04.2024 (after the completion of FY 2023-24).
4. Reservation for EWS will be subject to submission of a copy of the latest Income and
Asset Certificate issued by a Competent Authority at time of application and interview, if
called for. A candidate will be eligible to get the benefit of the Economically Weaker
Section reservation only in case the candidate meets the criteria issued by the Central
Government and is in possession of requisite Income & Asset Certificate based on income
for Financial Year (FY) 2023-2024 and issued on/after 01.04.2024 (after the completion of
FY 2023-24).
5. Reservation / Relaxation / Concession for Persons with Benchmark Disability is
subject to submission of medical certificate in prescribed format in support of permanent
disability issued by the Government Medical Board at the time of application and
interview, if called for.
6. In case Caste/Category certificate is issued in a language other than Hindi or English,
candidates are required to produce a certified translation of the same in either Hindi or
English language at the time of Document Verification, if called for.
7. SC/ST/PwBD/Ex-SM candidates are exempted from payment of application fee.
Trainees working in POWERGRID shall not be considered as Departmental Candidate.

SELECTION PROCESS
The selection process involves three stages based on performance in GATE 2025 for eligible candidates:
1. GATE 2025 Examination: Candidates must appear for the GATE 2025 paper in their respective discipline:
- Electrical Engineering (EE)
- Electronics and Communication (EC)
- Civil Engineering (CE)
- Computer Science Engineering (CS)
- Only candidates who qualify in the relevant GATE 2025 paper will advance to the next stage. The qualifying marks are determined by the GATE 2025 authority.
2. Shortlisting for Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI):
- Qualified candidates will be shortlisted based on normalized marks (out of 100) obtained in GATE 2025.
- The shortlist is created category-wise according to criteria set by the management.
3. Group Discussion & Personal Interview:
- Shortlisted candidates will be invited to participate in GD and PI.
- Candidates may choose to conduct these rounds in either Hindi or English.
Candidates will be informed of their status through their login on the POWERGRID Online Application System, where shortlisted candidates can also download interview call letters and instructions on required documents.
Candidates must qualify in the Personal Interview in order to be considered for empanelment. The qualifying % in interview for different categories is as mentioned below:

POWERGRID Application and Registration Process:
- GATE 2025 Registration: Candidates must register for and appear in the relevant GATE 2025 paper. For details, visit GATE 2025 website.
- POWERGRID Notification: Details on vacancies, reservation, application submission, interview dates, etc., will be provided in a separate notification on the POWERGRID website around February 2025.
- Application Window: The POWERGRID application window is expected to open in February/March 2025. Candidates will need to register on the POWERGRID website (under the CAREER section at www.powergrid.in) using their GATE 2025 Application Number, Registration Number, and other required information.
- Application Fees:
- SC/ST/PwBD/Ex-SM/Departmental Candidates: Exempt from fees.
- Other Candidates: Required to pay a non-refundable fee of Rs. 500 online.
- Ensure payment to complete the application process.
5. Document Retention: Keep your GATE 2025 Admit Card and Score Card for verification during GD, Interview, pre-employment medical examination, and joining in POWERGRID.
